J. Press and The Harriman Cup

J. Press will be the official sponsor of The Harriman Cup — the annual polo match between Yale and the University of Virginia. This year’s match will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Bethpage Polo at the Park.

For four decades, The Harriman Cup has commemorated the life of diplomat, polo player, former New York Governor, and longtime J. Press customer Averell Harriman.

The Harriman Cup is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of polo and supporting the collegiate polo programs at UVa and Yale, and proud to host the oldest alumni polo match in America. The organization has raised over $1 million for the schools’ undergraduate polo teams.

Join us for the Official Launch Party of the 41st Annual Harriman Cup Polo Match, presented by J. Press. Wednesday, August 13th, 6-8pm at J. Press NYC, 51 E. 44th Street. Beer and wine will be served.

The 41st Annual Harriman Cup presented by J. Press is on Saturday, September 6th, at Bethpage, NY. Tickets are available now at www.harrimancup.org

According to the TOPH, the capital-intensive sport of crew is “The Sport of Preps”. However, polo, with its claim on the most prep of all shirts, the polo, and a second, the OCBD, can’t be far behind.

  2. The pics from past Cup events are very nice. Looks like a fun time for both sides!!!

Even the TOPH comes up short now and then. If you don’t make it onto an America’s Cup crew, races like the TransPac or SORC racing are plenty Ivy and capital intensive.
