Tom Hanks will play Mr. Rogers in an as-yet-unnamed biopic scheduled for release in October 2019. Fashion trend may result. Begin preparations now either to ride along or avoid entirely.

I hope it does result in a trend!
Normcore ( think: dad jeans, khakis, and chambray shirts) is so 2017. It’s so trendy now that hipsters are sporting the look.
The NY Times predicts that next spring and autumn will feature colorful 80s preppy style. This is based on on NY fashion week runway shows with models wearing bright, cheerful polo shirts, repp ties, and pinned club collars.
Collar pins would be a nice trend. Fred Rogers’ gentle kindness would be even nicer one.
Canvas sneakers may be fine indoors next Fall, but remember, Mr. Rogers wore weejuns outside.

Probably why the documentary was such a hit (which resulted in this film being rushed into development).
Personally, I love cardigans and khakis so this is a trend I could hop on.
CC – I haven’t seen the documentary yet, but hope to do so soon. I note that I have collar pins, khakis, a couple of (button, not zip) cardigans and even a pair of navy blue canvas Topsiders, so I am ready for the next big trend. Born To Be Mild!
Club ties, but only if you belong to the club. Collar pins, but only with club collars. Cardigans without the zip. White canvas plimsolls.
If nothing else this makes an excellent preppy/almost-Ivy office-appropriate Halloween costume.
