Announcing The Ivy Style Self-Quarantined Selfie Contest

Are you a student or working man who’s been told to stay home?

DO NOT USE THIS AS AN EXCUSE TO LET YOUR SARTORIAL STANDARDS SLIP!

Put on your best outfitt, take a photo, and email it to christian@ivy-style.com for what will be the first of hopefully-not-too-many best-dressed contests as we ride out the Coronavirus.

Photos will be evaluated for stylishness of outfit and artistic execution. No bathroom selfies. And we’re using the term “selfie” loosely to mean a photo of yourself. For best results, have someone else take the shot.

For the inaugural contest, J. Press has graciously donated a necktie of your choice to the winner. Deadline is midnight Friday Eastern Time.

  1. I like it. The school where I work just moved the staff to a work-from-home arrangement for an indefinite period of time. I plan to continue to get dressed up each day as a way to get myself in the right frame of mind to work.

  2. You’re on!

    Best Regards,

    Heinz-Ulrich

  3. During these times, people will figure out what matters and what doesn’t. All the clothing sitting in my ebay shopping chart – dozens of items – I’ve suddenly lost interest.

Who cares right now if I have the perfect pocket square. With social distancing – I won’t be going anywhere for the next six to nine months. I have enough trad clothing to last the rest of my life.

I took my free time today to sew suede elbow patches onto my tweed jacket!

Pandemics are no excuse to let one’s sartorial standards slip.

    James,
Re ” I have enough trad clothing to last the rest of my life.”

That’s probably true for most fans of ivy style and Ivy Style.

It’s a battle for 2nd if RRP enters.

  8. I was going to say that.

Still in my PJs at 2:00 PM. As a senior, I am “sheltering in place”as per
six county Bay Area directive. Be assured that I am maintaing standards
of Ivy dress with oxford cloth pjs from BB. I also have the same from LL Bean,
which seem to be higher quality but are no longer available. I’ve witnessed
BB quality decline over the years: some of the oxford PJ bought 20 years ago
are still wearable, while those from 10 years ago have disintegrated. My newest
pair from last year seems much better made. So, perhaps BB has turned a corner.

Stay safe, stay well, all you Ivy Style chaps and chapesses.

    All the best

I’m wearing a madras shirt, sipping a Durzzenwater, and wondering if and when I’ll see my friends again.

    whiskeydent,
    Who’s R.R.P.?

  13. Stay healthy, gentlemen.
Still hoping this corona stuff is a lot of bull.

    A re-engineering of society, perhaps.

Still in tweeds, ties and longwings here, but then I tend to dress that way on weekends as well.

  16. Never hurts to be well dressed.

  17. Is that an Avon Old Farms student/blazer? That looks like the “Winged Beaver” seal on the jacket.
