RRP has become one of the most entertaining personalities lately in Ivy Style’s Facebook group. Here’s a gallery of some of his outfits and shots around the Los Angeles area (!), with his trademark deadpan jowl-scowl. Reading into his precise state of mind is much of the fun. “Have noticed those who have written about their kind of style often have come to their current style from other styles,” he says. “On the other hand, I’ve been wearing the same things my entire life. Still wear things I got at Brooks Brothers in the sixties and seventies. Over the last few years have gotten rid of lots of stuff to simply my life, which has led to exploring new combinations of what’s left of the same old stuff.”

Well assembled outfits, especialy when the sox and tie match. Yes, the expression never changes.
I’m not a Facebook user, so I have not seen RRP’s posts. But, a stylish and entertaining fellow, he appears to be.
Hip Hip Chin Chin…
Seems likehe almost busts a smile in No. 6. Close call. That would have wrecked the whole shtick. Otherwise nice, if not for quirk of too many sweaters.
Also, not crazy about occasional tie/socks matchy-matchy. Too affected.
I’ve found RRP’s pics and FB posts compelling; compelling enough to read more about him. He remains a bit of a mystery, though: he seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of both baked goods and rail travel in and around the LA metro; but he also refers obliquely to dramatic (and perhaps tragic?) changes in his life. Reading about him is both entertaining, and sometimes worrying.
I’m not on Facebook but RRP would post on the “Ask Andy” sight but haven’t seen anything from him in quite awhile. Glad to see he’s well.
Love his style and the pics…didn’t see them before as I don’t use Facebook
Thanks Christian.
RRP positively makes me look fun loving, and festive. I wore glasses like his, before I had cataract surgery in 2009. I may be needing glasses again, soon, will buy frames like that again.
For the last year or so, I’ve touched up my full head of gray hair, a la Fred Ridley, chairman of Augusta National. I just couldn’t stand the gray any longer.
I’d definitely venture to say he’s single. A married man would have more expression, not be able to pull off the unemotional deadpan. Abject misery or possible happiness could not be hidden.
Nice outfits. I could duplicate most. Like RRP, I’ve gotten ride of a lot of stuff. Wear navy blazers most of the time.
Cheers.
From one Angeleno to another, RRP looks great. One of those shots has him riding the Metro Red Line between North Hollywood and Union Station in DTLA; another shows him at FIDM southwest of the Biltmore close to the Staples Center. Comforting to see someone else out here upholding standards and not letting down the side.
He looks like the IRS agent who shows up for your audit. One look, and you know you’re doomed. I’m kind of surprised that the movie industry hasn’t found him.
Boola Boola !
Good call, whiskey. He should get an agent and get some simple character roles where all he has to do is be himself.
I was wondering about his shoes in picture 11. I have an old pair of LL Bean shoes like that. They are starting to show their age and I was thinking about replacing them.
Thank you.
Ken
He says he’s gotten rid of a lot of stuff. Well, he’s got plenty of good stuff left.
A boutonnières AND a pocket square is too many accessories. Pick one or the other unless you are the groom at a wedding.
A well-dressed Angelo!
Miracle of miracles!
My bad!
Angeleno, not Angelo!
CC
He’d scare off Javier Bardem’s character in “No Country for Old Men II.”
Odd, I was thinking more “Bueller? Bueller?…. “
Fogey trad.
Does anyone recognize the maker of the striped OCBD in the first photo (above “The Season To Be Jolly”)?
I’m tired of paying 183 bucks each (including shipping) for Mercers.
Christian – Indeed. Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
What great pics, and great clothes too, of course. I agree that RRP should be in films. Perfect deadpan.
He remember a bit Walter Matthau…
Walter Matthau’s doppelgänger, rocking that Fogey look.
