G. Bruce Boyer riffs on Riffs

On my other show Home From Here, Mr. Boyer called in and we did an hour sampling and talking about some of the music in his new book, Riffs, which is available on Amazon here.

Riffs by G. Bruce Boyer

He was an amazing guest, and we covered a breadth of topics. We purposely stayed away from fashion because he has agreed to do an Ivy-Style show, but if you want to get an appreciation for early rock, jazz, blues, this is the conversation to start with.

“… he has agreed to do an Ivy-Style show”.

    Great news!
    Looking forward to that.

  2. JB,

I would like to hear more about men’s style, please.

Speaking of fashion, where can I find the interview with the gentleman from the Original Madras Trading Company?

I had never heard the Sinatra quote re: Ray Charles. Ray was at an advantage in that he played by ear and feel with no visual distractions.

    The key of A#?

Jazz is for players. Kind of like watching a chess match.

  6. Took until I got into my 30’s but learning to appreciate jazz is something that has been a major game changer for me as music fan.
