Ivy-Style’s New Editor and Publisher, Matthew Longcore

Please join me in celebrating the next step in Ivy-Style’s evolution, Mr. Matthew Longcore.

Over the next week, I will have a lot to say about my tenure at the helm of Ivy Style’s bellwhether. For now, let me just say this. My goal in assuming the site was threefold.

  1. Expand the marketplace for the greatest fashion aesthetic in the world by helping reshape what Ivy is and inviting a much broader audience to the show.
  2. Change the direction of the discourse from aggressive and hostile to civil.
  3. Integrate a social media presence into the work.

More to say on all that next week, but I personally feel I have checked those boxes. So then what?

Finding someone who could take this reimagining of the site and make it even more impactful was not easy. In fact, it was too hard. Fate had to do it, and fate did, in the form of Matthew Longcore.

From the email that went out to advertisers yesterday:

“It gives me tremendous pride and pleasure to announce to you that on July 1, 2024, Mr.
Matthew Longcore will assume all administration and operation of the site. Most of you already
know Matthew. If you do not, I have a great surprise for you. Matthew holds graduate degrees
from Yale and Harvard, and works at an anthropological research organization based at Yale, so
he knows Ivy well. He is also a college professor and a writer. He is the creator of the Preppy
Handbook Fan Club, which has been featured in The Wall Street Journal and includes more
than 30,000 members across its social media pages on Facebook and Instagram. Recently,
Matthew has been featured in the J. Press Icons campaign.”

This means a ton for the site. A consistent flow of content. From a smart guy. Who breathes this. Reinvigorated marketing and promotions to benefit the readership. And yeah, and I am sure he will address this right up front, the merging of prep and Ivy. Which, if you think hasn’t happened already, you are not paying attention.

We got up on new legs about two years ago, and there is no one more perfect that Matthew Longcore to make sure we walk forward steadily. As I say, more about my tenure here in the week to come, but on July 1, buckle up buttercup.

Forgot to ask while at Harvard did you ever visit Charlie at the Andover Shop?

  9. Thank you, Mr.Burton, for your stewardship! <3

  10. Great news, and congrats to all involved! I am really grateful for the way John Burton moved the tenor and tone and focus of the overall discussion here forward (as opposed to so much “standing athwart history yelling, ‘stop!'”) and I’m looking forward to what’s next.

  11. Keep it light Matt, stick to clothing & the aesthetics. I am not interested in anything divisive or political from this website. Give us resources, highlight new products/brands, & a few corny jokes. I feel confident that most of us need a safe space- away from divisive political issues.
