  1. None of the above.

    Silk repp tie. Stripes.

Old rule: Never wear a stripe with a stripe. Exception is the Brooks bar stripe.

I agree that repp ties look great with seersucker. Certain bow ties also look good provided they are not loud.

  4. That’s a stupid rule.

Stripes with stripes are fine as long as different widths. Menswear 101.

In the minority again…but i’ll always be a supporter of the yellow oxford lol

  7. Solid knit….as worn by a few above.

    The answer is: White Bucks.

  9. @ Tom.
Good answer and agree 100%! “No white bucks, no seersucker suit.”

Speaking of white bucks, my first pair (years ago) were cream colored from Cable Car Clothiers. Would love another pair…in cream. Would that make me a Hipster? Good Lord!!

  10. I wore J. Press seersucker trousers to work the other day (business-casual dress code at the office) with a repp tie, white Brooks Brothers shirt, and black Gucci bit loafers. I’m sure that’s bound to get me reprimanded by some trad purists…probably breaks at least 10 “style rules”.

  11. Not a knit tie guy, with seersucker solid linen or silk or cotton.

I don’t understand the rep stripe or foulard rules about seersucker, if you can wear a tie with a university striped oxford, you can wear it with seersucker.

Shoes, white bucks, oxfords or dress tassels. Tan cap toes or dress tassels or spectators always look good.

I used to criticize people who wore seersucker suits for wearing “pajamas”, but now that people actually wear pajamas on the street, to meetings, and to college classes, seersuckers suits deserve praise rather than condemnation on my part.

Tony, you really need a taller collar on that shirt.

  14. Many years ago I acquired a pair of navy blue bucks. I think they look fine with the seersucker. And if anyone pokes fun, I tell them to “lay off of them shoes.”

My cream 1930s bucks, or spectator penny loafers (brown & white), a white or cream shirt; linen or pinpoint oxford, Polo Collar if four in hand, or Tennis collar if worn with a bow. I prefer blue/green madras bows and long ties in the Summer, or my oxford weave silk PRL ties from Dad (my favorite one looks like a strange cream and dark charcoal brown zebra – I know; NOT Ivy or even really trad on that one). Linen socks, of course, always cream. My seersucker suit is mustardy-caramel colored and 3 piece. Oh, and a real Panama hat and white pocket linen!
