Ivy Style Completes Year Eight With Look Back At Top Posts From Year One

anniversary

This month Ivy Style celebrates its eighth anniversary. Tempus fugit!

Yes, October is the month I typically say thank you to our readers, sponsors and contributors. Special thanks go out to associate editor Chris Sharp, columnist Richard Press, contributor G. Bruce Boyer, and friend and neighbor Daniel Greenwood, with whom I’m privileged to regularly discuss trad clothes and cultural happenings over coffee.

Ivy Style presently boasts 1,485 posts and 34,336 comments. It’s been a fun journey and I’m honored to continue to helm the ship.

According to our analytics software, the influx of new readers is steady. So for the newcomers, as well as those who’ve been with us all along, here are some of the cooler posts from Year One.

  9. Christian,

Ivy-Style has been “home away from home” these last years. The content and familiar commenters have made checking the site a daily ritual. Congratulations on eight great years, and cheers to another eight ahead of you!

    Dear Christian,

I discovered Ivy style only this year….shame on me.
But let me express my deep admiration for the work you acomplish.
I live in Paris, where Ivy style is not a daily matter as you can imagine.
Therefore it’s absolutely stunning to me to read about our favorite subjects like collar rolls, ivy history, jazz and everything else you write in your unique way!
    ….Just go on like that…..
Joyeux anniversaire ……et une longue vie à “Ivy style”….

  12. Congratulations!

  13. Christian,

Traditionalist escapism at its best. I wish you continued success.

Just the other day, I was thinking about how nearly all of the clothing blogs I used to read have either gone defunct or drastically changed—all but Ivy Style.

Congratulations on your longevity and relevance!

  16. Thanks everyone for the kind words. And we’ve missed you these past months, Henry. Haven’t seen you in the comments section as often.

I think one of the differences, Henry, is that I write for a living and have been doing so for 20 years. It’s a job and I know how to do it.

  17. @ Christian-Thanks it been a pleasure working with you. Hard to believe it has been eight years.

I add my congratulations to the chorus. Thank you, Christian for the best by far of the men’s clothing sites. One of the reasons may be that it is about more than just clothes, and so avoids the misplaced didacticism and dreariness of so many others. To eight more years!

I don’t know quite why I lapsed in my Ivy Style reading (and therefore commenting) at the end of last year, but I did. I shall endeavor not to let it happen again.

It is gratifying to know that no less an eminence than the proprietor himself missed me. I imagine most everyone else missed me about as much as they would a bad tooth.
