The fabric and cut of the uniform trousers are quite comfortable after all, being roomy in the thigh and the knee. And the hot weather “rip stop” as well as the heavier cold weather fabrics starch well and will hold a crease. Launder in cold or warm water, too easy. Either would make a heck of a good pair of “khakis”. Button fly, two button flap hip pockets, nice. Make them with on seam pockets and 18” at the hem…yeah, buddy. I would imagine that much quality would be quite expensive.
P.J. is modeling Desert Storm (Gulf War) era Desert Battle Dress Uniform (DBDU) trousers known as the “Chocolate Chip” pattern. The 1942 “Frogskin” camo had long since been replaced.
The Gold School Camo pattern trousers will make an excellent addition to any man’s autumn collection. Be Bold! Be brave!
Does wearing regulation camouflage fall into the same category as wearing logos and labels of institutions one did not attend?
Can an Army vet wear camouflage of the USAF if their parent was USAF? Can I wear USMC camouflage because my child is in the Corps?
What are the rules here??
If I have family in all three Branches and all four Services, and the USCG, can I mix patterns??
Come on y’all, this is what we do! Let’s hash it out.
Ok…I’m going to start.
I do not think BDUs – which is the abbreviation for BATTLE dress uniform – has a place in my casual or dress attire. HOWEVER, if you have served in the US Military (armed forces, USCG, French Foreign Legion – yes it is a thing and still exists)…and YOU want to wear a component of your BDU, then you sir/madam have absolutely earned the right to make that decision for yourself. You served, you know the uniform and when it’s worn, your call.
I, on the other hand, who merely attended a military college, do not feel I (we) should appropriate a BATTLE DRESS UNIFORM piece into closet of choices. I would no more do so, than I would wear a USAF General’s Service Dress Uniform with insignia to a halloween party.
To me – some things – such as NOT including for personal use, pieces of a BATTLE DRESS UNIFORM worn by real soldiers who go and fight in real wars, conflicts, and peace keeping missions – is a sacrosanct decision.
But if you are a USMC veteran (or active duty) and you choose to wear your BDUs in the duck blind – RAH!
The “camo” of my tour of duty was OD. My old Barbour affords me the ability to fly under the radar and hide in the open.
I paired my Woodland BDU pants with a red Polo. The message – I could hide, but I WANT you to find me.
First off, the O’Rourke photo is meant to be a joke on the old “give peace a chance” anti-Vietnam war slogan. It’s called irony. PJ pulled off a joke, not a style. More importantly, it’s not a matter of whether one needs to earn the right to wear camouflage clothing. Hunters who never served own lots of camouflage. It’s whether it’s in good taste for anyone to wear it away from the field and in a typical casual situation. It’s not.
I kinda think that when he paired it with a tux we knew he was kidding.
What JB just said.
